WPCA Chairman Pavel Wilson
Old Saybrook Town Hall
302 Main Street
Old Saybrook CT 06475-2369

Dear Chairman Wilson:

Re "The future of the town is at stake," said Robbie Marshall, WPCA Info Specialist, 2Jul09 Harbor News, Letters to the Editor.

The future of the town is always at stake. Spare us the truisms.

What would be helpful is a public response to my letters of 16Oct08 and 14May09, which, in essence, requested the OSWPCA to supply a legal definition (which could be challenged in court) for an 'undersized' septic tank.

The premise that any septic tank of any size which has provided satisfactory service for 50+ years could suddenly become 'undersized' lacks any basis in logic. It flys in the face of the time-honored engineering principle, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. The OSWPCA definition of 'undersized' is necessarily arbitrary and capricious. Say you otherwise? silence gives consent.

Feel free to post my letters, and your response, to your website. Please notify me if you do. They could be the object of a future FOI (Freedom of Information) request in any event.
                             Very truly yours,

                             Joel R. Anderson
